En Sri Lanka, por ejemplo, las ni\u00f1as representan un poco m\u00e1s del 50% de la poblaci\u00f3n escolar, pero solo el 20% de ellas estudian en el \u00e1rea de las Tecnolog\u00edas de la Informaci\u00f3n y las Comunicaciones (TIC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Girls in Technology (GiT)<\/strong>, lanzado por el&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/isoc.lk\/index.php\/en\/\">Cap\u00edtulo Sri Lanka<\/a>&nbsp;de Internet Society en 2018, quiere cambiar eso. Se alent\u00f3 a las estudiantes a usar herramientas en l\u00ednea como&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tinkercad.com\/\">TinkerCad<\/a>&nbsp;para modelar circuitos y experimentar con varias aplicaciones de IoT.&nbsp;Para evaluar a las l\u00edderes de los equipos en programaci\u00f3n, lanzaron un&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hackerrank.com\/coding-start\">Hackathon<\/a>&nbsp;en l\u00ednea.&nbsp;Las chicas interactuaron entre s\u00ed a trav\u00e9s de Zoom y a trav\u00e9s de la tutor\u00eda en redes sociales con las chicas del programa GiT en otras universidades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cEncontr\u00e9 una nueva comunidad para ayudarme a desarrollarme\u201d<\/p><cite>Chami Palawatte<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Seg\u00fan todas las medidas, Girls in Technology ha marcado la diferencia, aumentando la participaci\u00f3n de las estudiantes en las carreras emergentes de tecnolog\u00eda de Internet. Cre\u00f3 nuevas oportunidades para que los j\u00f3venes estudiantes siguieran una carrera en TIC mediante capacitaci\u00f3n&nbsp;<strong>690 escolares<\/strong>&nbsp;(415 ni\u00f1as y 275 ni\u00f1os),&nbsp;<strong>294 estudiantes universitarios<\/strong>&nbsp;(121 chicas, 153 chicos) y&nbsp;<strong>22 docentes<\/strong>. Varias chicas obtuvieron pasant\u00edas en las principales compa\u00f1\u00edas tecnol\u00f3gicas de Sri Lanka, mientras que todas las participantes l\u00edderes, que se graduaron en 2019 en la Universidad de Kelaniya, fueron contratadas como ingenieras de investigaci\u00f3n o software. El secretario general de las Naciones Unidas, Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, dice: \u201cPara enfrentar los desaf\u00edos del siglo XXI, debemos aprovechar todo nuestro potencial.
