2024 Impact Report: How $16.2M in grants powered change in 111 countries

In 2024, the Internet Society Foundation continued its commitment to ensuring that the Internet remains a force for good that benefits everyone. Our latest Philanthropy Impact Report showcases the incredible work of our 203 grantees across 111 countries, with $16.2 million in funding supporting projects that connect communities and advance digital inclusion.

From funding community networks in remote villages to supporting groundbreaking research on Internet security, this year’s report highlights how our grants drive real, measurable change. One-third of the world remains offline, but thanks to our partners, more individuals are accessing opportunities, education, and economic growth through the Internet.

“Our 2024 Philanthropy Impact Report highlights the lives transformed and the communities empowered through our funding. We are proud of the important work that our grantee community is doing worldwide, and we remain committed to learning from them to improve our support. Together, we are shaping an Internet that serves everyone, everywhere,” stated Sarah Armstrong, Executive Director of the Internet Society Foundation.

Last year, our grantee community achieved several key milestones, including helping 1,022 entrepreneurs adopt new digital tools for their businesses, developing 468 research products, creating 186 innovative connectivity solutions, and establishing 113 resilient solutions in areas prone to natural disasters, among other key achievements.

The Internet Society Foundation provides timely and strategic funding to empower grantees to expand Internet access, strengthen infrastructure, and support digital inclusion initiatives. Our programs address societal challenges and reduce inequalities by ensuring that more people worldwide can fully benefit from the opportunities the Internet provides.
