    OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

The project’s primary goal is to increase educational opportunities and outcomes in remote indigenous communities in Colombia by leveraging the Internet’s potential as a powerful tool for learning. The specific goals are to increase the level of engagement and participation of students in educational activities through the use of online learning tools and to improve educational outcomes by providing students with access to high-quality educational content and resources that are relevant to their needs and interests.

The plan to connect communities to the Internet involves establishing a community network that utilizes a hybrid connectivity model, leveraging both satellite and terrestrial wireless technologies since they are the most suitable for the contexts where the last-mile communities are located.

    WHY IS THIS PROJECT IMPORTANT?

The communities targeted by the project do not have any type of access to the Internet. This creates lack of access to educational resources and is a significant barrier to educational opportunities and engagement. By providing Internet connectivity and access to online educational materials, the educational divide that exists in many remote indigenous communities in Colombia can be bridged. Furthermore, by addressing the educational divide, the project is able to contribute to the broader goal of promoting sustainable development and reducing poverty and inequality in these communities.
