    OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

The objective of the project is to continue conducting meetings for the LAC-IX Members and Technical Group. LAC-IX is a regional association that supports creating and strengthening new and existing Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) in the Latin America and Caribbean region. As an organization that focuses on its members, it regularly brings them together – both virtually and in person – to exchange information and best practices, develop joint capacities, and promote the growth of the peering ecosystem in the region.

    WHY IS THIS PROJECT IMPORTANT?

The LAC-IX meetings are intended for members to explore the challenges and opportunities faced by the regional peering and interconnection community. In some cases, distinguished experts from relevant organizations are invited, such as other regional IXP associations, as well as traditional and non-traditional peers. The Technical Group meetings, in which the audience is composed of technical points of contact of each IXP, are intended to exchange best practices and to increase technical skills under a “train the trainer approach.” This technical point of contact transmits the acquired knowledge to their local peers. The continuity of these services is critical to developing and strengthening the peering community in Latin America and the Caribbean region.
