Objective of the Project:
The Sen Digi’tour project’s objective is to raise awareness and train 420 young people in essential digital skills to enhance their employability and/or support their entrepreneurial initiatives. It targets youth aged 18-30, particularly job seekers, dropouts, young graduates, and entrepreneurs who are far removed from digital tools, through intensive five-day training sessions. The project also focuses on empowering women and is being implemented in underserved areas such as Dakar’s suburbs and Ziguinchor to expand geographic and social reach.
Why Is This Project Important?
Senegal faces a significant digital divide, with high youth unemployment (ages 15–34), low digital literacy, and limited access to digital opportunities, particularly in marginalized areas. Despite a strong interest among youth in digital technologies, usage is mainly restricted to leisure activities, and only 16% of small businesses have websites due to a lack of digital skills. This project addresses these challenges by providing inclusive digital training that encourages economic inclusion, reduces geographic and gender disparities, and helps youth enter the job market or start entrepreneurial ventures, aligning with Senegal’s national goals of creating more jobs in the digital sector.
