    PROJECT OBJECTIVE

The UK Internet Governance Forum (UK IGF) serves as the United Kingdom’s national platform for dialogue on Internet governance. Operating as a collaborative partnership, it brings together representatives from government, parliament, industry, civil society, and academia to discuss Internet-related public policy in an inclusive and balanced setting. This approach ensures all sectors participate on equal footing—sharing perspectives, exchanging ideas, and exploring best practices in internet governance. The forum’s main objective is to foster a shared understanding of the opportunities and challenges posed by the internet. It identifies UK-specific issues, promotes informed policy discourse, and amplifies the country’s voice in global discussions. The UK IGF also facilitates engagement with other national and regional IGFs, supporting knowledge exchange and collaborative problem-solving across borders.

    WHY IS THE PROJECT IMPORTANT

As the UK’s official Internet governance forum, it provides a trusted space for multi-sector collaboration on complex and evolving issues related to the Internet. By tackling issues such as digital inclusion, misinformation, data governance, and the ethical implications of AI, the UK IGF informs policy thinking and encourages proactive responses to pressing digital challenges. Its commitment to dialogue and transparency helps align domestic priorities with international developments, enabling UK stakeholders to both contribute to and benefit from global Internet governance processes.

    The Internet is for Everyone

The Internet Society Foundation supports the vision of the Internet Society and its work for an open, globally-connected, secure, and trustworthy Internet for everyone.
