    OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

The project aims to (1) Empower blind people through Internet journalism training and Computer training; (2) Enhance the self-confidence and independence of blind people through the implementation of acquired skills (trainees will create digital content and get compensation for their efforts); and (3) Raise awareness about the benefits of the Internet and modern technologies for empowering people with disabilities.

    WHY IS THIS PROJECT IMPORTANT?

People in general, and people with disabilities specifically, are not always aware of how computers and Internet access can improve the lives of people living with disabilities. The project, through training blind people, allows trainees to use a PC and access the Internet to perform several activities. Trainees will independently record shows, edit content, and perform sound preparation, and post content on the Internet to share their stories. Trainee stories are accessible and available for wider audiences and the ISOC community. This helps to raise awareness, break stereotypes and prove that people with disabilities can live and work on an equal footing like everyone else.

In this regard, the project makes an attempt to change people’s attitudes about accessibility issues, and show what possibilities are available through the Internet.
