MBIX Upgrade

Objective of the Project

The project’s main goal is to upgrade MBIX’s infrastructure by replacing outdated network switches and servers with newer, high-capacity models. This upgrade will enhance performance, reliability, and security, enabling the exchange to support increased traffic volumes and advanced networking features. By modernizing its infrastructure, MBIX will be better prepared to meet current and future connectivity demand while continuing to foster a resilient local Internet ecosystem.

Why is This Project Important?

This project is important because MBIX plays a critical role in enhancing Internet speed, reliability, and efficiency for users by enabling local traffic exchange. The upgrade addresses the growing needs of the digital community and facilitates further engagement with ISPs and content providers, promoting broader participation in the local peering ecosystem. Additionally, these improvements help reduce latency, lower operational costs, and support Manitoba’s digital growth by strengthening local connectivity and network resilience.
