    OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

The project aims to provide Internet access to seven rural communities in the Tumaco region in Colombia, which currently have digital centers that are currently offline. The project will also implement seven community Wi-Fi areas around the centers and strengthen basic digital skills in those vulnerable communities.

As a result of the intervention and training in digital skills, the project seeks the optimization of agricultural processes through the use of technology.

    WHY IS THIS PROJECT IMPORTANT?

Historically, in rural areas of Colombia, access to Internet service is limited. This causes the social and economic gaps to grow in these populations since they do not have the tools and information that allow them to strengthen their training and improve their opportunities for economic and social development.

This project enables Internet connectivity in those rural communities, and through the Internet as a transformative tool, provides digital skills training, enables access to virtual education programs and strengthens agricultural production processes through the use of technologies.

Through technical training of specific agricultural production processes, the project contributes to the generational change in agricultural work and thus helps to reduce the current trend of young people migrating to cities, a trend that has serious economic impact in rural areas.
